Welcome to Book Exchange. We have been in business since 1975. We trade and/or sell books. We strive to offer great value through our wide book selection, high levels of customer service and neat & organized store. To maintain our competitive position while continuing to offer the highest possible value, we occasionally revise our pricing and trade policies to benefit both our customers and us as a business.

Note: We do not pay cash for books; we offer store trade credit only. Please keep in mind that in terms of either trading or purchasing, we do not honor other retail stores’ price stickers or guidelines.

When Purchasing:

• While the majority of our stock is trade-eligible, credit cannot be used toward some items. This includes all hardcovers; some scarce, out-of-print or in-high-demand paperbacks, and new books for in-store author signings. These items are for purchase only.

• Unless otherwise stated, paperback books are half of the U.S. publisher’s price, with a minimum purchase price of $2.50.

• Hardcovers are deeply discounted in most cases, with pricing found inside the front covers.

• Audio Books on Tape are 40% of the U.S. Publisher’s price; Audio CDs are 50% of the U.S. Publisher’s price.

• Clipped books in our discount bins may be purchased at prices indicated, but may not be returned for trade credit.

When Trading:

• Our Trade Policy allows trade out of one book for two acceptable trade-ins of equal value. Depending on book condition, you can receive up to 50% of the U.S. Publisher’s price, with a maximum credit of $7.00 per book traded in. The credit you receive is applied toward the full U.S. Publisher’s price on each book traded out.

• We charge a fee of .75˘ for each book traded out. On trades, cash due is .75˘ for each book covered by your amount of trade credit, plus half of any amount that exceeds the trade credit.

• We charge a minimum of $5.00 against your trade credit for any paperback traded out, regardless of U.S. Publisher’s price.

• Hardcover books we accept will receive credit that can only be used toward trade-eligible paperbacks.

• Customers must trade in Science Fiction to trade out Science Fiction & Western to trade out Western.

• Audio Books on CD will receive trade credit toward Audio Books on CD or on Cassettes. Audio Books on Cassette will only receive cassette trade credit.

• We charge a fee of .75˘ for each Audio Book CD traded out, plus $3.00 for each CD that exceeds your trade credit. The fee for Audio Book Tapes is .40˘ for each tape traded out, plus $1.50 for each tape that exceeds your trade credit.

• Serial romances traded in receive trade credit only useable for other serial romance books.

• We accept a maximum of 40 books per family per week.

• When trading in multiple books, we expect you to trade out and/or buy several books; otherwise, we will charge a $3.00 processing fee.

• Our acceptance of any book and the amount of trade credit given – paperback, hardcover, audio, etc. – is solely determined by our stock needs and our determination of book condition.

• Trade-ins are not accepted during the last 30 minutes of business or during large author events.
